Enter the Fuse

I was just trying to think of a way to describe what it is that’s happened to the sound of the big Plinius SA-Reference when I swapped in the new Furutech fuses. And then, Positive Feedback obliged me: Supreme3 Fuses.

Paying particular attention to the following:

Transparency enjoyed a wholesale improvement; slight, granted, but bettered without question. This comes in two forms as I heard it. First, through the reduction of a minuscule yet inclusive fine graining, offering a more liquid texture overall, and secondly, by contributing to a slight reduction of the noise floor.

This was it, in a nutshell. The rest of the article read as a bit of an exercise in hyperbolic audiophile nonsense, but you get the picture. Definite improvement, but subtle. Very pleasurable. 😉

Of course, I’m talking about the Furutech fuses, not the ones from HiFi Tuning, and I’m told that two are in fact different. The Furutech presents as a bit warmer sounding and the HiFi Tuning fuses present as a bit more lean/neutral. Not that either are going to be shouting out their presence or their contribution — these are subtle tweaks. Anyway, I highly recommend tinkering! And at $35 each, how can you go wrong?
