I had quite a run there for a while and then Life got in the way of posting. Whoops.
Well, in lieu of actually presenting anything new or news-worthy, I thought I’d trot out some up and coming ….
First up will be a visit with the new Totem Element: Metal speakers. Command Performance A/V (in McLean, VA) has received their demo pair, so I’ll be swinging in for an extended session as soon as I can manage it. They should have some time on them by then, so hopefully I’ll get an earful of Totem goodness.
That’s really all I have going on. With luck, I’ll be ordering some racks from Audiav at the end of the month (or earlier, if my finances decide to rearrange themselves appropriately before then).
Everything else is on ignore ….
I’m waiting for my new Magnepan 3.7 speakers. Only been a couple of weeks, and based on the fact that The Gifted Listener has yet to deliver on speakers that were ordered back in February, I’m thinking that I won’t be enjoying my pair before Memorial Day. With my luck, it’ll be closer to Labor Day.
I’m also waiting on my Berkeley Audio USB-S/PDIF Converter. Ordered that one back in March, though I did get this very nice email from Michael Ritter over at Berkeley:
Thank you for your order for an Alpha USB.
The Alpha USB uses a number of specialized parts that have no substitute equivalents, including custom designed master clock oscillators. The vendor of one of these no-substitute parts informed us late last week that there will be a delay in initial availability. As a result, instead of being able to begin Alpha USB shipments as planned next week, it will now be about a month before we will be able to ship.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing our dealers and customers, but we will not ship any product with its performance compromised in any way and must wait for the parts. We are at the mercy of our supplier as there is no alternative.
As soon as we know the Alpha USB ship date we will notify our dealers and I will notify you. I know it has been a long time coming, but we are almost there and I am certain you will find the performance of the Alpha USB well worth the wait.
Whoops. Okay, well I guess that means that June will be my high-res audio month. Oh well.
I have received a set of Grounding Wires from Audio Sensibility. I’ll be fiddling with them over the next week.
I’m holding off on cables until I have my speakers here. WyWires and Audio Sensibility look like they’re in the hunt for this portion of my rig.
And that’s all I’ve got. Stay tuned ….
