French amplification geniuses, and patent hoarders Devialet announced Thursday that a slew of major technical, and engineering advances were being showcased in a new line of Expert models to be called Zero. The name apparently derived from the company’s quest for zero total signal distortion.
An email was sent out to current Expert system owners with a list of the massive improvements available urging them to apply for the upgrades on a first-200 priority list before they become swamped with requests to implement the updates when the new Zero models are released.
Here is the email that Devialet sent out June 16:
Inventors of the world’s best amplification technology – ADH® – we are constantly working towards the ultimate perfection: zero distortion. In this passionate quest, we thoroughly reviewed the electronics of our products and are about to announce a new Expert line.
You are one of the first owners of a Devialet Expert system and we thank you very much. As such, we would like you to be the first to hear about this Devialet new revolution.
New patents in every domain, exceptional performance, new upgrade capacity and many more enhancements…
- 5 new patents
- New ADH Intelligence
- New Class A Voltage Amplifier
- New Class D Current Amplifier
- New Power Supply
- New Thermal Management
- THD + noise (stereo) < 0,00025%
- SNR improved by 2.5 dB
- ADH loop precision multiplied by 4
- Transient response 2x faster
- Thermal Exchanges 2x better
No news has been made available whether the new Zero line will feature a different look, or chassis design, or whether different colors, or finishes will be available. As well, no specs on whether increased power output options are available, or pricing changes to the current lineup, or the new models. I could speculate that perhaps the current stock/models may be discounted in price, but it is probably doubtful that Devialet would leave much product in the pipeline if they are unveiling a new series to the Expert line.
Stay tuned for more information as we get it, I will be contacting Devialet to find out more.
