Sonus Faber Launches Sonetto

100% Made In Italy

The 1900 Building in Kansas City, Missouri, is the original HQ for Lee Jeans, and last week I got a tour, courtesy of Mr. Karbank, the owner. The “new” 1900 Building is a very posh and modern affair, with space for industry and a fantastic restaurant, but most interesting to you, dear reader, is that Mr. Karbank is also a client of a local Sonus Faber dealer Elevated Electronics, and that relationship allowed Sonus Faber the opportunity to bring some friends in to introduce a new toy, or rather, a collection of such toys, to celebrate their 35th Anniversary.

The Sonetto Collection will slot in below the Olympica and above the Venere lines (picture: exactly in the middle), and features a set of eight different loudspeakers: one on-wall, two center-channels, two stand-mounts, and three floor-standing. There will be three finishes available, piano black, matte white, and “wood” (walnut). Availability is targeted as “August”.

Speakers & Major Features

All 8 loudspeakers feature the same DAD tweeter, paper-cone mids, and aluminum woofers in die-cast baskets. These drivers are fitted into the lute-shaped cabinets and fitted with a touch-me soft leather top panel (just because/touching/leather-is-good), a down-firing/front-venting port, and the spiffy SF aluminum feet.

Will Kline, Brand Manager for Sonus Faber, underscored that the speakers in the Sonetto Collection are 100% Made in Italy.

We did a brief tour of the floor-staning speakers, here driven by McIntosh and Audio Research electronics and fed by either McIntosh, Audio Research, or a Pro-Ject turntable. Smooth, elegant, fatigue-free sound — this is all-day stuff. And the look? Just stunning.

Speaking for myself, I think an all-SF home theater system with these speakers would be just spectacular.

  1. can tell from the drivers and their rubber surrounds…………..SF is really going downhill…………

  2. Looks interesting. But for the two center channel speakers, the price is shown as for a pair. Why would this be the case with center speakers. Also, the specs for the center speakers give no info on the tweeters.
