Capital Audiofest 2016
This year’s Capital Audiofest was, in almost every respect, the best yet on offer. Which is doubly remarkable as this year’s Capital Audiofest was almost the show that wasn’t. A late-stage ownership juggle meant a late start, and despite that, showrunner Gary Gill still managed to pull together an extravaganza that rivaled the previous year and easily trumped the sound at every other show I attended in 2016. This was a great show, in a great venue, with a great cast of characters.
My friend Ken Furst, one of the “old guard” of the audio reps still working such shows, was instrumental in some of the more interesting aspects of this show, including one of the most expensive give-aways ever done at an audio show.
Ken (far right), passed away in December of 2016. He will be sorely missed.
