I find myself thinking of the John Lennon quote — “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” — quite often. Maybe I’m getting old. But honestly, there never is a good time for bad news.
Yesterday, my uncle died. Massive coronary. It was out of the blue. It was quick, and then he was gone. So, today, I’m on my way home. RMAF is not even half done, and while I have a lot of pics to share, I don’t have a lot of detail. It’ll have to do, I’m afraid. There’s just nothing for it. Family. It comes before everything.
It’s a little surreal, leaving that bustling hive of life, passion and art to go and sit shiva. Full circle, I guess.
Anyway, I just wanted to apologize in advance. More will be coming about RMAF, have no fear. But for me, for today, my thoughts are elsewhere.
For now, just do me a favor. Sometime today, hoist a glass in Boston’s general direction in memory of a man you never knew. Trust me, you’d have liked him.
PtA,
So very sorry to hear of your loss. Condolences to you and yours. Take as much time as is required. Everybody can relate.

So very sorry to hear. I am sure we would like your uncle, if he was anything like you.
Sorry to hear about your Uncle. Best wishes to you and your family.
Every time I hear of a sudden passing I always think it’s the Almighty’s way of telling us to live EVERY day… or else.
Very sorry for your loss amigo.
Thanks, Greg. FWIW, I agree. I like this Thompson quote:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!”
God Bless You and your family. Thank you for all your great work.
Very sorry for your family’s loss. I wish you strength.
Please just do what needs to be done at this time and know that we always look forward to what you have to entertain us with in audio:)
No apologies required. Family first my friend. I actually glad I didn’t make it out there this year as I had two deaths in the famy this week. Go be with your family and I am hoisting one right now for you and yours.
Thanks, Bill. Sorry to hear about your losses, too. Be well.
I’m very sorry to hear about your uncle’s sudden passing. Family first is right, There will be RMAF 2013, take care of your family now and provide the stability and peace they need at this moment,
Godspeed to your uncle. I lost my grandmother today as well. I was looking forward to your reports but some things are more important. Puts things in perspective…
Condolences, sir. Best wishes to your family.
Thanks for your efforts so far. J.
Audio is a grace note to our lives; our family is our life. I’m really sorry to hear about your uncle, and my sympathy to you and your family.
