It happens more often than you’d think. I’m at a high-end audio show and I walk into a room with the same exact gear as I have currently set-up in my review system. It’s not entirely by accident since I love to compare how a product sounds in my living room and how it sounds in a hotel room, especially when the hotel room was set up by the people who know this product far better than I do. That’s what happened at the 2024 Florida International Audio Expo when I walked into the Triangle and Electrocompaniet room.

In this specific case, it was the Triangle Magellan Duetto loudspeakers ($7,000/pair), paired with all sorts of amplification from Electrocompaniet of Norway. I happen to have the $7,500 Electrocompaniet ECI 6 right now, an all-in-one integrated amplifier/DAC/streamer. Both are superb, and my review should be completed shortly. But if you’re wondering about the Triangle and Electrocompaniet synergy, and why these two particular brands have been paired together at both my house and this hotel room in Tampa, its because both brands, along with the Soulines turntable in the system, are all represented in the US by the Antal Audio Group.

Our own Graig Neville has fallen hard for Triangle. He reviewed the Triangle Antal and the Magellan Quatuor, and he bought the latter. At my house, Triangle and Electrocompaniet are delivering a sound that is clear, exciting, full of energy–it’s gear that’s constantly in a great mood. I heard that same sound at FLAX, an engaging sound that makes you sit down and listen. Frank Gazzo of Antal played DJ for me, and he knew the system well–including the Nordost cabling.

I’ve already tempted Graig by saying, “Have you heard Triangle and Electrocompaniet together?” The Antal Audio Group found two brands that sing together, and that’s not always the case at high-end audio shows where last minute deals are made to replace a non-functioning component the night before a show. Triangle and Electrocompaniet, two companies that have been around for quite a while separately, have found each other, and it’s quite a romance.
